DETAILED INFORMATION

The stainless properties of stainless steel are obtained by forming a thin film of chromium-rich oxide on the material’s surface. This chromium-rich oxide adheres to the material’s surface and gives it its stainless characteristics. As a general-purpose austenitic stainless steel, it has a face-centered cubic structure and is a face-centered austenitic stainless steel.

This alloy has a low carbon content compared to alloy 302. As a result, it will perform better in corrosion resistance in welded constructions since it is non-magnetic in its annealed condition and can only be hardened through cold working.

It contains the strongest and hardest material, such as 304 stainless steel foil. This is also referred to as Anodized stainless steel 304 foil. It is excellent for making the most intensive of cuts.

Our business is exporting AISI 304 Stainless Steel Foil and UNS S30400 304 Stainless Steel Foil and is supplying 304 Stainless Steel Foil at competitive prices.

There are a few different names for stainless steel 304, which include 1.4307 and 1.4301. The most versatile and widely used stainless steel is type 304. Its old name, 18/8, is still sometimes used, as the nominal composition of type 304 is 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Type 304 stainless steel is considered an austenitic grade that can be severely deep drawn. This property has caused 304 to be the predominant grade used in sinks and saucepans due to its capability to be deeply redrawn. This data sheet describes the specific properties of flat-rolled products covered by ASTM A240/A240M, considered the industry standard for flat-rolled products. Specifications in these standards may be similar to those given in this data sheet, but they are not necessarily identical.

Corrosion Resistance

As one of the best corrosion-resistant steels available, 304 can withstand a wide range of environments and can be used with various corrosive media. Pitting and crevice corrosion can occur in chloride-containing environments. Stress corrosion cracking can occur at temperatures over 60°C.

Heat Resistance

In intermittent service up to 870°C and continuous service up to 925°C, 304 has good oxidation resistance. Despite this, continuous use of 304L is not recommended at temperatures of 425- 860°C due to its resistance to carbide precipitation. When high strength is required at temperatures above 500°C, grade 304H should be chosen. This grade will retain

Fabrication

It is essential to use stainless steel-specific tools for fabrication. Before using stainless steel, tooling, and work surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned. To prevent cross-contamination of stainless steel by easily corroded metals, It is essential to use stainless steel-specific tools for fabrication. That may discolor the fabricated product’s surface; these precautions are necessary.

Cold Working

In the case of cold working methods, 304 stainless steel is readily susceptible to work hardening, so an intermediate annealing stage may be necessary to alleviate work hardening and prevent tearing or cracking. Employing a full annealing operation after fabrication is important to reduce internal stresses and improve corrosion resistance.

Hot Working

To ensure maximum corrosion resistance, fabrication methods such as forging that involve hot working should be carried out after uniform heating to 1149-1260 degrees Celsius. The fabricated components should then be rapidly cooled to ensure maximum corrosion resistance.

Machinability

A good way to improve machining 304 is to keep the cutting edges sharp. Dull edges lead to excessive hardening of the material. To prevent work hardening by riding on the material’s surface, cuts should be made that are light and deep enough to prevent it from riding. A chip breaker is an excellent tool to help prevent swarf from getting into the work area, as austenitic alloys have a low thermal conductivity, which causes heat to concentrate at the cutting edges. As a result, coolants and lubricants must be used in large quantities and be of high quality.

Heat Treatment

Heat treatment cannot be used to harden 304 stainless steel. A solution treatment or annealing can be done by rapid cooling after the steel has been heated to 1010-1120 degrees Celsius.

Weldability

The fusion welding performance of stainless steel 304 is excellent. The best fillers and electrodes for stainless steel 304 are grade 308, while the recommended filler rods and electrodes for 304L are grade 308L. Heavy welded sections may require post-weld annealing. If post-weld heat treatment is not feasible, grade 321 may be used.

How To Make 304 Ss Foils?

1. Raw Materials Preparation

To ensure the quality of the goods, the origin manufacturer issues a product quality certificate for every batch of goods.

In addition, our company will conduct a thorough inspection of the raw materials sent to the factory, and we will select raw materials to be sampled and used for spectral analysis.

This type of testing can detect the ingredients present in the raw materials. We will compare and confirm that the ingredients are accurate in the raw materials. We will check with the manufacturer’s quality certificate.

Quality control involves checking details such as thickness tolerance, coil width, outside packaging, label marks, inside surface finish, chemical components, etc.

Furthermore, we will save some raw materials and finished products of precision 304 stainless steel foils. We will send them to qualified testing institutions regularly so that the testing institutions will be able to test our precision stainless steel foils and raw materials using professional instruments.

As part of our quality control system, we ensure that all standards of the national technical specifications are met with our products.

2. Cold Rolling

In this step of the manufacturing process of precision thin 304 stainless steel foils, a cold rolling mill is used to achieve the desired thickness of the foil, a machine that also ensures a good surface finish, the flatness of the strip, and a variation in thickness that meets international standards.

It is important to mention that the twenty-high rolling mill equipment is also important to mention. The twenty-high rolling mill consists of the stand, roll system, roll box, pressing device, and driving device.

With the rectangular saddle and the housing, stainless steel foil can be produced with a thickness of up to 0.001mm. The matching accuracy is high, and the lower roll box allows the line to maintain a standard height.

With cold rolling, we can achieve super thin 304 stainless steel foils with a thickness of 0.02mm.

3. Bright Annealing

During this step, the whole surface of the 304 stainless steel foil body is subjected to the metallurgical process.

As a result of the heat treatment, the microstructure of the foil material is altered to provide the desired mechanical properties while it is in use as a result of the treatment.

A thin 304 stainless steel foil is processed for bright annealing treatment in a continuous annealing line, where the foil can be cooled rapidly under bright annealing conditions.

It is estimated that the thin stainless steel foil travels at a speed of 60-80 meters per minute on the line.

4. Degreasing

It is necessary to clean the residual oil left on the surface of the thin 304 stainless steel foils due to the stains created during the rolling process.

A chemical reaction (saponification reaction) is used between an alkaline agent and grease on the surface to remove grease from steel foils.

Hot alkaline rinsing can clean three hundred four stainless steel foils of 0.02 mm-1.0 mm thickness. This unit can handle 304 stainless steel foils of 0.02mm-1.0mm thickness at 60 meters per minute.

5. Tension Straightening Process

It is difficult to deform thin 304 stainless steel foil rolled on a twenty-high rolling mill with a thickness of 0.02mm-0.8mm.

In the condition of complete softening and large tension leveling, stretch bending straightening is the only way to eliminate the stress of steel stainless foil in the condition of complete softening and large tension leveling.

As part of the tension leveling, the steel foil is subjected to a skin pass mill, a machine that, in addition to improving the mechanical properties, also helps to improve the final brightness of the steel foil. By doing this, we guarantee all the desired characteristics of the final foil product.

When the stainless steel foil is straightened, the stress distribution in the entire foil is more uniform, and the plate shape is straight due to straightening the stainless steel foil.

By applying excellent control and management to the production process, we can assure the straightness of each stainless steel foil in various hardness and temper levels.

6. Slitting Process

As a part of the super thin 304 stainless steel foils slitting process, our staff will use a precision and small machine to cut the narrow thin coils of foils. The thickness of the thin roll foils lies in the range of 0.02mm to 0.08mm.

When our workers are preparing to slit a finished coil, they will make adjustments between the coils and tools to minimize the burr on the edge of the strip as much as possible when preparing to slit.

In the manufacture of cold rolled precision thin stainless steel foils made from 304 stainless steel, the manufacturing process ends with the slitting of the cold rolled sheets of precision steel foil, where slitting knives of the highest precision are used to achieve the final width and burr level of the cold rolled precision thin stainless steel sheets.
