DETAILED INFORMATION
This is another popular stainless steel grade. Even though it contains 18% chrome and 8% nickel, which makes it one of the most popular stainless steels in the market today, 304 Coil, also called 18/8, is also a very popular stainless steel. SS 304 Coil is a hardenable austenitic grade that can be severely deep-drawn. Because of these characteristics, grade 304 has become dominant in applications such as sinks and kitchen tools because of its ability to be deep-drawn severely. When it comes to corrosion resistance, the AISI 304 Coil can be used in a variety of environments and with a variety of different types of corrosive media and is an excellent choice for use in several environments. However, it is important to note that pitting and crevice corrosion can occur in chloride environments with SS 304 products, as well as stress corrosion cracks in products exposed to temperatures above 60 degrees Celsius.
It is particularly suitable for intermittent service up to 870 degrees C and continuous service up to 925 degrees C, as the SUS 304 Coil provides good resistance to oxidation. However, using the DIN 1.4301 Coil for continuous services at temperatures of 425-820 degrees C is not recommended. DIN 1.4301 Coils can also resist aqueous corrosion as well. When preparing the UNS S30400 Coil, proper precautions must be taken to ensure the coils are fabricated correctly. It is important to do this to prevent cross-contamination of the product’s surface by easily corroded metals that could discolor the surface of the fabricated product.
It is also possible to work harden ASTM A240 304 No.1 stainless steel coils very easily. This fabrication method uses cold working, which may require an intermediate annealing stage. This process alleviates work hardening and protects the coil from tearing/cracking. Additionally, it is important to note that hot working of this type of steel should only be performed after the material has been uniformly heated to 1149-1260 degrees C. The vast ASTM A240 304 Stainless Steel Coil Stock also possesses good machinability and cannot be hardened by heat treatment. With or without filler materials, it is possible to perform excellent fusion welding on this material, regardless of whether the filler materials are used.
The 304 ss products come in different shapes, sizes, dimensions, and finishes. Undoubtedly, the BA Finish Stainless Steel 304 Coil has a very bright and reflective surface, appealing to the eye. However, the 2B Finish 304 Grade Stainless Steel Coil has also improved corrosion-resistance abilities.
